Few people realize that in the U.S., a person or vehicle is hit by a train almost every three hours.
That’s a statistic that Norfolk Southern is determined to change. The company launched Train Your Brain in 2007 to raise public awareness about being safe and alert around railroad tracks and trains.

Please stay away from railroad trestles and yards. They’re private property and you could get arrested or fined for trespassing. The more severe penalty could be a serious injury or death.
A driver is 20 times more likely to die in a collision with a train than with another motor vehicle. Be smart and safe at railroad crossings. Always slow down, look and listen for an approaching train.
Thank you for the great reminder, Norfolk Southern Corp. Never trespass on railroad property to take photos. Tracks are only for trains and you could get seriously hurt while trying to take a selfie. The risk is not worth your life.
We had the best time at the BBQ Ribfest cooking competition! The food was delicious and the guests were so nice and interested in our railroad safety message. We met former conductors and a lot of rail fans. We also met a lot of folks who did not know that walking on train tracks is trespassing and very dangerous. Too many people we spoke with had been personally affected by a railroad safety incident and had lost a loved one. Always remember that tracks are for trains. Trains can't stop but you can, so always be cautious and careful around railroad property.
#TBT time! Don't you love this vintage safety poster? The message still stands today - never walk on railroad tracks. Tracks are for trains and you are trespassing if you are walking on railroad property. You could be fined, ticketed, or hurt.
